On-demand support

Visitor service/neighbourhood help, Red Cross (volunteers)

The visitor service is there to support people who are either alone and lonely, or whose family carers need a break. The visitors come regularly to the person’s home or to a care home.

Hospital to home support service, Caritas (volunteers, temporary)

This support service is not a replacement for mobile care or long-term care but exists to provide support just after a hospital stay. Volunteers provide “hospital to home support” for the Graz area, in Grambach, Fernitz, Kalsdorf and Gratkorn as well as in parts of the district of Weiz, for the Fürstenfeld area and Feldbach.

Flexible temporary care in Graz and the surrounding area

Day care can be used to provide need-based care or as a gentle way of starting 24 hour care. It is suitable for persons of all care levels, who do not want or need night-time care e.g. if night care is undertaken by family living in the same household or if there is no room available for a personal carer.

You can use the portal stundenweisebetreut.at to look for carers who provide hourly care for dementia sufferers - whether the person needs professional care, someone to go for a walk or play cards with, someone to read a book or someone who will just be there. You can search for free or post your own advertisement. There is also a great deal of information on care as well as templates for contracts, documentation etc.

DGKS Cornelia Ferk provides you with a professional network of carers. During the first visit, a member of staff examines the medical history of the person in need of care to ensure that exactly the right level and type of care is provided. Contact details: cornelia.ferk(at)gmx.at and 0664 8596 573

Cura domo Gemeinsam  supports families in Austria in caring for family members at home - they also offer day care.
